WEL's annual comedy fundraiser is on again - Wednesday 27th June, at Paddington Woollahra RSL (doors at 7pm for 7:30pm start). Join us for a cathartic night of feminist fun and frivolity in support of WEL's work and campaigning for equality. This year's line-up will knock your feminist socks off!
Joining us is the dame of Australian comedy, Jean Kittson (performer, writer and comedian in theatre and print, on radio and television). A public advocate for issues that impact women - education, youth, health, equal opportunity and aging, Jean is the author of You’re Still Hot to Me: The Joys of Menopause, which opens the lid on managing and treating the impact of menopause on women, the family and work. Jean has redefined hilarity and has successfully combined comedy with social commentary.
The line-up includes award winning TV host, comic, journalist, author and social commentator, Gretel Killeen. Gretel is a formidable business woman, raising her two children as a single mum. She tours with her inspirational and hilarious stage shows and is regularly seen on TV as a social/political commentator.
Also joining us are two of the superb cabaret performers from Lady Sings It Better, who will have you laughing and singing along, as they take us all on a high energy, hilarious and devilishly bizarre adventure through the darkest corners of misogynist pop, rock, hiphop and RnB.
Completing the line-up is Sallie Don, a Sydney based comedian, actor and writer. Sallie performs throughout venues in Sydney, and brings joy and laughter to most situations. With a razor-sharp wit, Sallie is high energy and has a raft of hilarious characterisations up her sleeve.
Returning as our MC is comedian, actor, writer, and by her own admission, professional fool - the fabulous Lou Pollard.
