Pussy Hat Project

Women's March on Washington D.C. and over 600 sister solidarity marches took place January 21, 2017! The Pussyhat Project launched in November 2016 with the goal of creating a sea of pink hats representing not only those at the march, but also the makers of these pink hats!

WEL is supplying fuschia coloured 8 ply acrylic yarn (4 seasons Marvel from Spotlight stores) wool to knitters. One of our members, super knitter Glenda Gartrell, has modified the pattern (see below) so that we can knit hats on straight needles (5mm) rather than round. Glenda estimates it takes 3 hours to knit one hat (2 hats 1x 100 gram ball of yarn wool per hat).

Please let Helen know if you’d like to knit for WEL and how many hats you are willing to knit by emailing wel@welnsw.org.au

Please note, we are no longer taking any more pussyhat orders, but if you would like to knit a hat, please see our pattern below.
