WEL NSW Policy on Transgender Issues

(adopted WEL NSW Executive Meeting 9 June 2021)

WEL proudly seeks to advance the rights of all women, including trans women and non-binary people.

We support a society that allows anyone to live freely according to their gender identity. We endorse legal protections for trans and gender diverse people against discrimination, harassment, and violence. We will also back campaigns that seek to remove other barriers, such as legal or medical gender affirmation.

As a member organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW), WEL NSW is itself subject to NSW and Commonwealth anti-discrimination laws. WEL NSW affirms that membership is open to all who share our vision, regardless of sexuality or gender identity. Membership of WEL entails support for our objects and policies, including those involving solidarity with trans people.
