Across Australia, women are still paying the price for inequality every day.

We see it in rising rents and housing insecurity;

In the costs and pressure of providing unpaid care;

In unsafe homes and violence against women;

In rising healthcare costs;

In insecure and underpaid work;

And in the growing financial pressure many women and families are facing right now.

Women continue to carry too much, with minimal back up.

While progress has been made, we can’t take it for granted.

We know that the rights and protections women fought hard to achieve can still be weakened, delayed or undone.

We are seeing this right now through attempts in NSW, South Australia and Queensland to wind back abortion and reproductive rights protections.

Unanticipated and escalating changes in political and voting alignments threaten to fracture Australia’s broad consensus on measures to achieve women’s equality.

For over 50 years, the Women's Electoral Lobby has helped turn women's voices into lasting change, from workplace protections and paid parental leave to domestic violence leave, reproductive rights and the costs of unpaid care.

That work goes on.
