Executive Committee position - Fundraising

WEL NSW is an independent, feminist, non-profit, non-party political lobby group founded in 1972. Building on its 40 years of feminist advocacy work, WEL NSW is recruiting new active volunteers to ensure that WEL has the ongoing capacity to achieve social change for women.

WEL NSW is looking to strengthen its Executive Committee (our volunteer Board which sets organisational strategy and approves campaigns) by recruiting a new member with fundraising and strategic planning expertise. This individual would help us to develop a five year fundraising strategy and would advise our Membership and Community Engagement Coordinator on how to implement the strategy.

The Executive Committee Member (Fundraising) will be expected to:

  1. Steer the development of a five year fundraising strategy for WEL NSW.

  2. Advise the Membership & Community Engagement Coordinator on the implementation of the strategy.

  3. Identify strategies for building our organisational fundraising capacity.

  4. A commitment to WEL’s feminist goals.

  5. Successful fundraising experience, ideally in the NFP sector.

  6. Organisational strategic planning expertise.

  7. A willingness to work alongside volunteers. 

  8. Ability to build organisational capacity. 

  9. A willingness to tap into your own network to help WEL achieve its goals.

  10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including building relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.

  11. Ability to attend monthly meetings outside business hours.

  12. Corporate governance knowledge and experience.

  13. Contacts in the philanthropic sector.

Terms & conditions of engagement

This is a volunteer role. Applicants are asked to commit for a 12 month period. Executive Committee meetings are held on the second Wednesday each month, 6 - 8 pm in Newtown.
